Each forest range in Kolhapur plays a vital role in protecting biodiversity, managing forest resources, and promoting sustainable eco-tourism.
The Kolhapur Forest Department, operating under the Maharashtra Forest Department, is headquartered at the Van Vardhan Building adjacent to Tarabai Park in Kolhapur. It oversees diverse forest landscapes across seven major ranges – Karvir, Panhala, Bhudargad, Vishalgad, Ajra-Chandgad, Radhanagari and Gaganbawada – within the Western Ghats biodiversity hotspot. Our dedicated teams of foresters, conservation officers and field staff work to maintain healthy forest ecosystems, protect wildlife habitats, promote sustainable eco-tourism and support community livelihoods linked to forest resources.
“Connecting people, protecting nature, and building a greener future.”
